About Our Firm
The Firm was established in 1998 by Fernando Font Lee. Attorney Font was admitted to the Puerto Rico Bar in 1997 and to the Federal District Court for the District of Puerto Rico in 1998. Since then, the Firm has grown steadily, expanding its client base. At the same time, the Firm has been able to retain the patronage of its longstanding clients.

Puerto Rico's Inheritance Law
Puerto Rico’s inheritance law, as outlined in the Puerto Rico Civil Code of 2020, governs the distribution of assets upon an individual’s death. It establishes rules and procedures to ensure a fair and orderly transfer of property.
Some of the main points of Puerto Rico Inheritance Law are:
- The forced portion of the Estate to be adjudicated to the forced heir was reduced to a 50% of all the Estate assets.
- The surviving spouse is considered a forced heir.
- A gift received by a future heir/legatee during the life of the Deceased/ Testator shall not be considered an advance on the inheritance if it occurred at least 10 years prior to the death of Deceased/Testator.
- Debts of the Estate are not passed on to the heirs.
- Surviving Spouse possess a statutory lien over the Deceased/Testator’s and widow(er)’s residence.
